FLORIDA 500

Mark A. Gensheimer

PRESIDENT & CEO, PENN-FLORIDA COS., BOCA RATON

Since founding Penn-Florida in Boca Raton in 1987, Gensheimer has become a major player in Palm Beach County’s real estate market by focusing on high-end hospitality, residential and mixed-use properties. He currently is developing Via Mizner, a mixed-use project in downtown Boca. The development, which already includes a 366-unit apartment building, will have a 164-room Mandarin Oriental hotel and 92 condos ranging from 1,400 square feet to 9,000 square feet. The hotel will be the Mandarin brand’s sixth U.S. location and second Florida location — the other is in Miami.

“Development allows us to begin with a vision and transform that vision into a finished product,” Gensheimer recently told Boca Raton Magazine, which named him a 2019 game changer. “It is very satisfying, particularly when the product is unique.”

He received a bachelor’s degree in business from Central Michigan University, where he was on the golf team.
